I’m an expat living overseas and loved seeing your photos of the Three Sisters and also Katoomba Falls (the waterfall).

I also went to school in Blackheath; my school overlooked Jamison Valley and it was the most idyllic upbringing for any Aussie kid to get off the bus in the morning and see wallabies and kangaroos running (jumping?) over the fields.

You are kindred spirits. We are planning our RTW year and hope to leave in the fall. I feel like I have a handle on everything but lodging. Mostly we want to rent by the week in each major destination. But I’m having trouble finding resources to find the longer-term, less expensive lodging. Advice?

If only we could plan better! Things never seem to work out as we plan them, the campsite we were headed to tonight was no longer there. But last night we met new friends and camped in their driveway, and tonight we have internet at a nearby motel. The kid? He thinks it’s all an adventure and loves it. Safe and happy travels. My 6 month reflective blog post is still looming over me. I don’t think I could say it any better than you did.

Those parrots are really beautiful inspite of the poop factor. So true is your comment about the freedom of being outside of the big cities. But I really enjoyed your descriptions of the beaches and unusual wave patterns in
Sydney. I also loved the freedom to take ferries all over the harbor. So that makes Sydney so special to me. Miss you all, Love Mimi
